“When I started training with Pennie, I had a reasonable fitness level, but always had little niggles that had held me back. During my first session, Pennie identified a weakness in my ankle (from a break years ago) that was causing me to exercise in all kinds of weird ways without me realising it! Right away Pennie starting teaching me ways to strengthen my ankle and improve flexibility. Being mindful of this weakness totally changed the way I approached the gym. I’d never really done any weights work before and was pretty intimidated at first! But Pennie explained everything in a way that made perfect sense – telling me how and why getting stronger was the key to getting fitter, almost immediately I noticed improvements in my running technique and my ability to run faster for longer. One thing I’ve always wanted to do was a press up but had totally given up as it felt so far from reach. Pennie helped me use bands and taught me how to better control my core, and over time I got there! They’re still not perfect, but I felt so proud when I managed the first set and Pennie was so proud for me too!

“I started training with Pennie coming up to a year ago. I’d always gone to the gym on and off and had seen a Personal Trainer before, so knew the importance of choosing the right one. I came to Pennie after going to her FatBurn classes, in which she pushed me every week and encouraged me to up the weight and try harder variations of the exercises in the class. She was also really friendly and approachable, which is just as important when you have to spend a few hours with someone every week!
“My initial goal was to drop to a size 12. I reached this goal within just three months, through a mix of weights and conditioning work. Pennie gave me my own programme so I felt confident coming to the gym and using the free weights room outside of our sessions. She made sure to teach me, so I was capable of training solo. She also provided me with nutritional advice – but nothing unrealistic, as the focus was on losing and maintaining the weight as opposed to a quick win where I’d put it all back on straight away.
“Since hitting my initial weight loss goal, I’ve been able to focus on getting strong, learning new things (e.g. Olympic Lifting) and improving my technique. I genuinely look forward to our sessions every week and I love being able to pick heavy sh*t up. I haven’t stepped foot into a gym for years but Pennie has helped me get back into it, she’s really encouraging but push’s you forward. I have a slipped disc and she’s really attentive ensuring everything is done correctly building my confidence. I’d highly recommend.
Training with Pennie is really fun, she believes in making sure people enjoy their workout and we’ve always had a laugh in our sessions.
Also I have a long-term injury which she’s been great about working creatively around, making sure I get to train properly without aggravating it. Definitely would recommend
I have really enjoyed my sessions with Pennie! When i came to her I had been lifting weights on own for some but wasn’t progressing very fast, so i wanted to learn better technique and gain confidence in myself to raise my weights and grow stronger. Every time we’ve done a session I’ve come out feeling like I’ve learnt a lot which has boosted my confidence loads. Couldn’t be happier!
When I contacted pennie I was a gym newbie looking to start working out and eating healthier to help with my anxiety, and 7 months down the line and it has worked wonders. My anxiety is under control, I am feeling so much stronger and healthier and I am truly feeling better than ever before and so motivated with the changes I am seeing and all the amazing advice I get from her. I first contacted Pennie after an ankle injury (and some laziness) had put me back to being unfit, unhappy about how I felt, and very hindered in strength and fitness on the pitch. Fast forward a few months, and I’m not only back to where I was before the injury, but way ahead of it, and really feeling the difference.
Unlike some other PTs, Pennie focusses on what you want to get out of working with her, not just on getting you to lose weight or look better. She also keeps you coming back by making it easy to see how you’re progressing with regular tests & challenges, and by being fun to work out with!
Well, well, well, what can I say except: That girl is the definition of amazing!! I wanted to start lifting heavy weights for a long time, but I’ve never dared to try it on my own. So I checked out all the PTs in my local gym several times and Pennie was clearly the go-to option! I couldn’t be happier with the PT choice I made for a number of reasons. Not only did I learn how to lift heavy weights in a really professional way, but I also learned to have faith in what I am capable of. Pennie pushes you to your limit every session and sees potential that you might not see (yet). All this goes along with some great laughter in between the sets. I can only highly recommend training with Pennie to everybody – you won’t regret it!
I’d been going to the gym for a while but was stuck in a bit of a rut. I was going to classes and running but didn’t really know what to do when it came to using heavier weights, I would do the same thing over and over again (and was doing the wrong things I’ve now learnt!). I’ve been seeing Pennie for 6 months and now I would never go back! Having regular sessions makes me more inclined to do my own exercise in between and really keeps me on track. I’ve learnt so much, look forward to each session as I feel so great afterwards. And most miraculously I now don’t regard burpees as the devil! I also never thought I would enjoy picking heavy things up. But I LOVE IT. Thanks Pennie!
At the end of 2016, I wrote a list of New Years resolutions kick starting these in late December between Christmas and New Year.
One of those resolutions was to improve the quality of me playing rugby whilst improving my physical health and diet.
Pennie was recommended to me by a colleague at the time. We are still training together over 12 months later and she has done an amazing job. My whole attitude has changed in regard to training, diet and drastically improved my playing performance on the pitch. None of this would have been possible without her encouragement, support and tailored training sessions I cannot recommend her highly enough.
